Mary of Bethany

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Tuesday 11.30am-2.30pm (UK time)

A Woman in Travail Must:

Be Spiritual (Jn 3:3-6; Rm 8:5-8; 1Cor 2:14-15)
  • That which is flesh is flesh and it cannot please God; it cannot understand the thoughts of God nor accept what the Holy Spirit means; it cannot submit to God’s law.
Be Focused (Lk 10:38-42)
  • Not easily distracted, restless, troubled or anxious.
Not Judge by Sight (Jn 6:60-69)
  • She must have insight into the things of God; it is the Holy Spirit that quickens us because He is our helper in the place of prayer.

Mary of Bethany was a Woman in Travail.

Lk 10:38-42; Jn 11:1-3, 17-44; Jn 12:1-8 (Matt 26:6-13; Mk 14:3-9)

She knew the Lord and she was known to Him -  Lk 10:38-39.
She loved the Lord and was loved by Him also -  Jn 11:5.
She was focused; not easily distracted -  Lk 10:39; Jn 12:1-8.
She trusted in the Lord implicitly; rested in the Lord  - Jn 11:32-34.
She was not talkative; her quiet attitude speaks volumes.
She was totally devoted to the Lord and was always found at His feet - Lk 10:39; Jn 11:32; Jn 12:3.
She paid close attention to what the Lord said every time that she hung unto His words. She was probably the only one who caught what Jesus said of His death and resurrection and took time to anoint His body before burial.
She attracted the Lord’s attention every time; He defended  and commended her for her actions all the time -  Lk 10:42; Jn 12:7.

Mary will be forever be remembered for what she did for Jesus.

PRAYER
  • Lord, deliver me from the carnal nature; let me not walk in the flesh ever again.
  • Come into my heart, cleanse me of every clutter and hinderance that prevents me from becoming a woman in travail.
  • Lord, make me spiritual; let me know how to please you like Mary.
  • Please do not let me start spiritually and end up in the flesh.
  • Keep me at Your feet, Lord; in that position of learning that a disciple should have.
  • Let Your Word be my priority over and above everything else.
  • Cause me to hear You and understand what You say at all times.
  • Stop me from going my way like Martha; show me Your way O Lord.
  • Lord, fill me with Your Spirit and lead me that I may discern Your ways.
  • Teach me how to pray and let my prayers move You to action, O my Lord.
  • Let me not remain on the level of hearing alone but let what I hear produce beneficial fruits in my life and in the lives of others.
  • May my life be remembered for my devotion to You.
