"And there went a man of the house
of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi. 2 And the woman
conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she
hid him three months. 3 And when she could not longer hide him,
she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch,
and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink." - Exodus
2:1-3
ü And when she could not longer hide him
Jochebed was convicted of the need to hide Moses. She inquired
of the LORD and received instruction on how long to hide him. Three months ended
and she could no longer hide Moses; but heaven seemed silent on what the next
instruction was.
Jochebed could have taken no action, expecting heaven to see
to it that Moses was preserved; after all he was a goodly child with a divine
destiny. Rather, she was proactive, s ensitive to divine timing and she sought the LORD for the next step.
o
Help me LORD, to recognise divine timing and arise
so that YOUR agenda in and through my Gideon is preserved and fulfilled. Esther
4:10-14.
o
Do not allow me relinquish to others or to heaven, my
responsibility in labouring for my Gideon. Prov. 31:27 & Rom. 12:11.
o
Make me a Jochebed- ever ready to engage and
inquire of the God for the next step.
o
Grant me grace like Jesus to pray and bring down
tangible answers capable of saving my generation. James 5:17 & Daniel
2:16-18.
o Give God no rest till He establish and till He
make my Gideon a praise in the earth Isa. 62:7. LORD, make that my life
testimony.
ü She took for him an ark of bulrushes, and
daubed it with slime and with pitch
Bulrush- This
tall, robust, leafless aquatic plant can grow up 13-16 feet high.
The
‘feather-duster’ flowering heads make it ideal nesting sites for many social
species of birds.
Pitch- Traditionally used for waterproofing buckets, barrels and small boats.
Jochebed sought the LORD to gain understanding of the next
environment for Moses. She obtained wisdom and applied herself meticulously;
she was calculating; willing to spend and be spent. Understanding of the next
environment for Moses informed her actions. The gains to heaven in preserving
Moses far outweighed the cost of preparing his next environment. The ark was built from feather-like material to ensure maximum comfort. She coated the ark with slime and pitch to insulate and waterproof it.
o
Make me a woman that is willing to spend and be
spent so that CHRIST is formed in my Gideon. 2 Cor 12:15.
o
Help me bring my Gideon to the CROSS which insulates them from sin, Satan and the
world system.
o
Grant me wisdom to build and coat my Gideon in
the Word and prayer.
ü and put the child therein; and she laid it
in the flags by the river's brink.
Jochebed knew that she will not be physically there for
Moses once he was laid at the river's brink. She was powerless to control the river's
tidal waves. She could not predict the weather or stop the waters overflowing
the bank. However, she made efforts to stop the waters from entering into Moses’
ark because it was waterproof.
o
Grant me understanding to know that I will not
always be physically there for my Gideon.
o
I may have no control of the flow of water in
the river of this world but help me to know that I can prevent the water of
worldliness from entering into the ark of my Gideon (HEART) and drowning them.
