- A Canaanite;
- Given in marriage at a young age;
- Married men whom heaven declared as wicked and dis-pleasing to the Lord;
- Abused, used, abandoned and forgotten;
- Twice widowed;
- Likely labelled and ostracised because of her circumstances;
- Hit rock bottom - widowed, no child (inheritance), no continuity, sent back to her home;
- Promises broken and left to hope in vain;
- Desperate for a seed, she ran ahead of God and tried to fix things herself.
- Patient
- Strong and resilient
- Courageous
- Focused
- Determined and resourceful
The desire to provide an heir for her deceased husband.
- To preserve his name;
- To retain their inheritance;
- For continuity for his lineage.
Prayer
Points
- Hebrews 2:10 - Affect my heart so that I also can carry a burden to bring relief to the heart of God and see many sons come into glory.
- Baptise me with a duty of both carrying the life of Jesus and ensuring His life/name is preserved in my lineage, community and nation at large.
- 2 Timothy 2:2 - Enable me commit to faithful men, all the things I have learned so that the life and virtues of Jesus has continuity.
- John 15:4 - Grace to perpetually abide inside Christ, so that I bear His fruit as well as take on His burden.
- Malachi 3:3 - Present your life to the Lord and ask the Him sincerely to sit on you as a refiner and a purifier of silver; purge you through and through so that your offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness.
